MEET BRANDON THE FARMER AT GRASSROOTS FARMS
Brandon Chonko started Grassroots Farms in Athens, GA as a hobby when he and his wife were looking for a healthy lifestyle.  He became fascinated with all the aspects of growing his own food.  He added beehives, quail and some backyard hens.  A neighbor allowed him to use her pasture to raise chickens and once Brandon tasted those chickens he was blown away by the taste and texture.
Brandon started selling to a few restaurants in Atlanta and Athens.  He then got a call from the president of a large food distribution company who had eaten one of his chickens at a restaurant and wanted to carry his chickens.  Brandon and his wife decided to move to a farm on 30 acres in Camden County and the rest is history!  He has even been featured in Garden & Gun magazine, who hailed it as the “most delicious chicken in the South.”
Grassroots Farms also offers Thanksgiving turkeys.

Their focus is pasture raised heritage pork, chicken, eggs, and turkeys, as well as seasonal vegetables.

In his spare time, Brando also writes a column (The Frank Farmer) for the Camden Tribune & Georgian.
