A recent article published by Jeff Ostrowki for Bankrate has some great information on a trend realtors have been seeing for some time now regarding whose moving to Georgia and why.

Atlanta and its metro areas are home to 6 million people. These areas are known for a robust job market with companies like UPS, Coca-Cola and Home Depot to name a few. When people are looking to retire they may not want to leave the state so they look to the outlying areas as well as the Coast.

Georgia is rivaling Florida as a retirement destination. Here is a recap from the Bankrate article:

Mountains
Beaches
Major airports to go visit family and friends
Median home prices lower than the national average
Low cost of living
Light tax burden (see more below)

Although Florida and Tennessee have no state income tax, Georgia exempts Social Security retirement benefits and other pension payments for residents 62 and older. Everyone is looking for a way to save money!

SUMMERTIME IS FOR SALADS

I am a little behind in reading my magazines, but I picked up the June issue of Better Homes & Gardens this morning and this recipe caught my eye. I love eating a salad on a hot summer day. This one looks delicious as it has tons of seasonal veggies and sliced chicken for a filling meal! Enjoy!
